Asian patients with chronic kidney disease have an increased risk for hip fracture surgery complications. In a study performed on 44,065 diabetic Asian patients, 11,954 had chronic kidney disease while 30,449 patients did not have chronic kidney disease. Both groups had comparable risks of infection. The group of patients with chronic kidney disease had a much higher risk of hospital readmission, mortality, and worse outcomes after hip fracture surgery.
